Have you ever wanted something and had no clue how to get it? Welcome to The Frugal Catholic's fifth Spiritual Weapon-- Jehovah Jireh, which means "The Lord will provide."
This fifth and final weapon is one of complete trust, and I consider it an unused weapon because when employed, Jehovah Jireh is life-changing.
Jehovah Jireh comes from Old Testament scripture found beginning in Genesis 22:2, where God put Abraham to the test because of Abraham's great faith. God told Abraham to go and sacrifice his only son Isaac. Abraham obeyed and went to an undisclosed location to sacrifice his son, only to have God stop him at the last moment. God then provided a substitute for Isaac--a ram. When Abraham saw the ram caught in some thorny bushes, he sacrificed it instead and called the place Jehovah Jireh or “The Lord Will Provide.”
So to show you how remarkable Jehovah Jireh is, a family friend and young business owner, Amy Heffernan from Charleston, SC, is here to tell her story. As you will see from Amy's explanations, Jehovah Jireh runs on the Biblical premise as found in
Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." And as you will see, this fifth spiritual weapon really works: all you have to do is ask, believe, and receive—that simple.
1. Amy, as a single mom, life has thrown you a few curveballs in the past couple of years, yet you've continued to trust in God and have watched Him provide. How has He met your needs during these times? And have you too found comfort in leaning on Jehovah Jireh? I have never lost my faith, even during the most difficult seasons in my life. I have had a challenging divorce, and as a single mom, God has always given me peace and provided all I need. I am juggling raising 2 amazing boys and a growing candle business, and it can be very overwhelming at times, to say the least. But I can say that my faith always calms me. I try not to allow myself to become too stressed with whatever obstacle I might have before me because I know in the end, God will guide me through the whole process.
2. Have you likewise felt His Hand in starting your www.candlebiscandleco.com during this Corona Virus pandemic period? In what ways? The Corona Virus has been a huge upset in all of our lives. The financial and emotional stress has been more than I could have imagined months ago when this started. But I feel that it has caused us to pause and really appreciate and value what we so easily took advantage of. Simple things like hanging out with friends and family, going to a movie, and any group event mean so much more now. And even though I have lost work during the pandemic, God has opened so many doors. It has been a time for me to reflect on my life and talents and make them work as God created me to do. Also, I feel my 2 boys are missing out on so much of their valuable high school memories. The lack of socializing with their friends has been hard on them. It makes me realize how much our kids need those relationships for their mental health. I also know remote learning isn’t the ideal way for them to maximize their learning potential. 3. How did you develop your business concept of hand-poured CBD candles in Charleston, SC? I have been blessed to work with one of my closest friends in the corporate candle industry for years. I honestly feel God aligned our paths and backgrounds to create our company. About a year ago, Chaney and I noticed the interest in the CBD market growing and that there weren't many CBD candles available. Together we started to research and develop a candle that combined our candle knowledge and love for the CBD. We took months to find the best fragrances, suppliers, and formulas for our candles. She and I brought our sales, design, and merchandising history together to create a product that we love. We are both working moms, and our friendship makes every day a joy and adventure. With the pandemic, I ended up losing my main source of income. Chaney was in the same situation too. We decided to fully focus on our passion for the CBD candles we had developed, and Candlebis Candle Co was born. The pandemic forced us to be all in with Candlebis Candle Co! It is amazing how God has provided this adventure that we might not have totally committed to if we had other options. The business is growing so fast, and I love sharing it with my dear friend. We have the best time figuring out every new challenge that the day brings us.
4. What is significant about your candles which people like? CBD has so many benefits, and why not combine it with a fragrance that you love! It seems like the perfect combination to me. Candles naturally have such a calming aroma, and adding CBD is a bonus. Our Candlebis Candles are made from the purest CBD from hemp and have 0% THC. We use fragrances without additives, natural soy wax, 100% cotton wax, recycled glass, and source all our materials in the USA. They are also hand-poured in Charleston, SC, and made with love.
5. Do you feel that sometimes hard times help us grow closer to God? How have you experienced this? We all turn to additional prayer when experiencing struggles in our lives. I feel it is natural to realize in those moments that we need to remember to pray more often when we are not struggling. I really don’t ever allow myself to drift from God. He always provides what I need, even when I didn’t know I needed it at the time. I have found that stressing too much is just a waste of time. I have to keep moving and do what I can, and it will all work out for the best in the end. 6. Is there anything else that I have failed to ask that you'd like to share? I would never have imagined my marriage would end, and I was crushed when it did. But sometimes, we can’t control the path that our lives take. I want other women to know that there is life after divorce. I have found that I am more myself now than I have been in years. God has guided me to create a new adventure providing for my boys and my soul. I am actually happier now than I have been in years.
